Bletchley Park with Geraldine, Ewan & Liam

We had been saying for ages that we must go to Bletchley Park.  We both thought it would be interesting.  We never did and we never made the trip - now it is too late for you.

It was the Boy's half term break (end May 2015) and I had been looking on Bletchley Park site for info etc and found that during the half term hols they had a 'code breaking' event for the children.  Funnily enough, Ewan had been learning about this in a lesson at school and they actually had someone from Bletchley Park come into the school and talk about it to the children. (Ewan's age group).  He was really taken with it and interested, so on Wednesday we went there, myself, Geraldine, Ewan and Liam.  It was, for me, a mixture of emotions on the day.  I was so pleased I was there but upset that you weren't, especially as Ewan was so interested in it.  We would have lost you and Ewan for ages, as I am in no doubt whatsoever, that you would have been going around with him, talking to him about things and explaining stuff.  We saw the old 'valves' that used to be in TV sets and I explained that you have worked on our TV at the time and had to test and change these 'valves'. They had the radio information there, it was interesting.  A film has been made about Bletchley and Alan Turrin, which some of it was shot at Bletchley - the Boys were able to see that.  Ewan really wants to see the film.  He took photos etc as he has to do a project for school and he is using the Enigma machine as his subject.  You really would have been in your glory!  Liam enjoyed it although as he is a bit younger didn't find it quite as interesting, I think, but he still enjoyed the day.  Liam has a project to do about the History of England, so he may use some of the visit for information.  Weather was good - good day all round - just you missing it.
Lots and lots of love, as always xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
