Well George, as you are probably well aware, Adam got through to the finals of Great British Menu and then through to the Banquet. You ALWAYS were supportive of anything Adam did and work was no exception. He misses you so much (as Paul, Geraldine and myself do, without question), not being able to ask your advice and go through things with you. As you know he had already started with the preparations for the GBM earlier on in the year. Then because his region was the 5th one to be competed for it turned out that this started just a couple of days before we lost you. On the Sunday before the 17th, you were talking to Adam when you were in Luton & Dunstable Hospital and you said to him that he must concentrate on what he was doing that week (ie the competition - meaning that that was what he should be thinking about). On the Tuesday you were moved to Keech Hospice at lunch time. Obviously we were there with you but because Adam was filming I had to leave a message on his phone to let him know. At the end of the filming, which was late, he came up to see you and then again on the Wednesday night. We were all there with you. When Adam arrived on the Wednesday evening you were really not well and he was going to not go back to the competition and carry on with it all. Me, Adam, Geraldine and Paul discussed the situation (not easy) and what Adam was doing and what you, his Dad would have wanted him to do, it was decided that if Adam could do it, then to go back and carry on - to do it for Dad. Adam did that and more, he got through to the finals and then to the Banquet which was being held at St Paul's Cathedral. How Adam did it we don't know, but Adam did you proud George (Adam had a picture of you pinned inside his apron, so you were with him). Apart from losing you George on that day, the decision to carry on has got to be the hardest decision that us, as a family, would have to make. Adam did it for you, to be proud of the family as you always were with them all. I just cannot describe how we all feel, that apart from you not being here, that after all the you did to help and support (all of your children - Adam in this instance), that you were so cruelly taken from us at the time when it was so close to getting some recognition for all that you had done for Adam, you would have been so proud of him achieving what he did and to have been part of the occasion at St. Paul's on the night. Adam did it for the veterans of the 2nd World War.....but he did it for you as well. The picture that I have put on here for you are Adam's starter (everyone loved it). The other picture is of the other chefs that got through to the Banquet when they were talking to David Cameron before the evening started. We, all of us, miss and love you so much. Lots of Love from Chris xxxxx
