Upset and pride are the emotions that I feel.  Upset because you would be so proud of Ewan the way that he is - everybody loves him - he is so polite, sensitive and all the other things that you already knew he was.  He has nearly finished his time at Lark Rise and its time for him to go to the Secondary School.. They have changed the school system George, to how we used to have it. On the 5th & 6th he was, with the rest of the children, having induction days at the new school.  You know it is the one just up the road from where they live.  He was walking there in the morning with a friend and walking back to his present school when they came out.  Needless to say Geraldine felt sick at the very thought of it - i can remember those days with our own George. He was nervous but at the end of the first day said that he had had a really good day. His present teachers will miss him a great deal, they have really brought him on and his confidence is much better.  I do hope the school is as good as the one he is at now as he is a very clever boy and that needs to be carried on in the years' ahead of him.  I expect he felt very big going by himself!  I know you will watch over him.
